Scriptures to Memorize, But What Size?
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 The memorization of scripture, which is the "sword of the Spirit," is a necessary self-defense against sin. Simple sentence structure and single syllable words certainly simplify this task. Satan strives to stop this safeguard against sin, so new versions keep the "sword" wrapped in a sheath of words. They consistently use twice the number of words and syllables as the KJV, to say the same thing.
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Revelation 22:18
