God in his foreknowledge focused 18 scripture verses on Diana and the inroads her image had made into Ephesus and "the world" (Acts 19:24-41). A generation who will "worship the image" of the beast badly needs Paul's rebuke to these Ephesians: "[T]here be no gods which are made with hands" (Acts 19:26). 'New International' versions have dropped Diana, just as she is being picked up by a new international generation in need of undisguised truth. 34, 35 Artemis, the name used in new versions, was an exclusively Greek goddess and not the one Acts 19:27 says,". . .whom all Asia and the world worshipped." Harper's Dictionary of Classical Literature and Antiquity exposes the new version's error revealing that the goddess of Ephesus: . . .is no Greek divinity, but Asiatic. This is sufficiently shown by the fact that eunuchs were employed in her worship—a practice quite foreign to the Greek idea .22 The Oxford Classical Dictionary explains why the goddess at [T]he two cults had quite different origins.
