Ways That the Lord Gives Provision

P ROV . 8:12 Since my teenage years, technology has moved from home landline telephones to cordless phones to cell phones, from mainframe computers that took up all the space in a large room to desktop computers, then to laptop computers, and then to iPads and smartphones. I remember phonograph records, Beta and VHS tapes, and cassettes. Today we have direct downloads, CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray. Next year at this time, there will be even more new technology as the things we are using now become outdated. Somebody invented the technology for these systems. Just the Internet alone has turned certain entrepreneurs into millionaires or billionaires in a short time. Consider eBay, Facebook and Google to name just a few. One way God creates provision for you is by using the untapped gifts that reside in your mind or in your hands. Let us consider a few gifts that have brought additional income to the person possessing these abilities. People who love to cook might run catering businesses on the side. Individuals gifted in hospitality and travel services are paid a commission for their services. Others have dynamic personalities and are experts in setting up meetings and connecting people. Individuals work on the side and make income from graphic and computer technology, programming, writing for ministries and businesses, and so on. Previously I mentioned that I began writing songs years ago. Through my contacts I have been blessed to have over forty songs recorded and have received royalty checks for them. Then, after many years of writing books, I was approached to write under a contract for a major publisher, which enabled me to have extra income through the advance for writing the book. Pam and I have a friend who worked for the ministry years ago, booking meetings, arranging the details, and helping set the budget. On two occasions, we were either overcharged or experienced a situation where we had to pay for things that were already included in the contract price. This young woman had such a dynamic personality in dealing with people that, in both situations, she came out of the meeting with thousands of dollars in savings for the ministry. We teased her that she was like Esther in the Bible when she stood before the king and had favor. Her ability to smooth over difficult situations and obtain favor was a gift that either a person has or does not have.
