Ways That the Lord Gives Provision

2. G OD B LESSES T HOSE W HO S UPPORT THE P OOR AND N EEDY There are several significant promises of provision for a person who cares for and helps those who are truly poor and in need. I realize that in our society there are numerous people who are either lazy or willfully incompetent, and who use the system to get as much free assistance as possible. Others have addictions or other problems that hinder them from holding a job. These are not the poor and needy I am referring to. Some people are truly poor, and these are the people who need assistance. This is especially true in third world countries where famine, drought, and poverty are the way of life for many. In some nations of the world, the people live on less than the equivalent of one dollar a day. They live in cardboard houses, have no clean water, barely survive on small amounts of food, and have no access to health care. Every American is wealthy by comparison. Numerous Scriptures reveal how blessings are released for those who care for the poor. He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given. P ROV . 19:17 (NKJV) He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses. P ROV . 28:27 (NKJV)

He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor;

His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor.

P SALM 112:9 (NKJV) To personally illustrate how the Lord will pay back what you give to the poor, years ago, our ministry needed over one million dollars for new television equipment. As I was reading Proverbs 19:17, 1 was suddenly aware that God’s favor would be released upon the ministry if we would assist the poor. I was inspired to begin a special fund called the Samaritan Fund, which is the tithe (ten percent) from all non-designated donations, and use it to support legitimate
