F INANCIAL S ECURITY IN THE L AST D AYS

The Bible teaches that people will mock prophetic warnings before the judgments of God are released. Prior to the Babylonian captivity, Jeremiah was ridiculed and threatened with death for warning the inhabitants of Jerusalem of the coming famine, invasion and captivity He sounded the alarm for twenty-three years, in the clamor of much unbelief. The spiritual rumor was that the prophecy was not matching the prosperity ! Things were going too well for judgment to fall. Of course God would continue to bless the city. But the Lord said in Jeremiah 22:21, “I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not hear.’ This has been your manner from your youth, that you did not obey My voice.” When things go well people tend to forget what got them there. While there are scholars who differ with the following opinion, some have noted and suggested that these seven churches also reveal seven different periods of time throughout church history, from the time of the birth of the church at Pentecost until the climax of the church age.
