Lord said to Abraham…” (Gen. 18:13), or “The Lord spoke to Moses…” (Exod. 6:10), or “The Lord said to Solomon…” (1 Kings 11:11). When addressing or appearing before a person in most references, the Scripture indicates that the Lord spoke their name once . However, there are several occasions in which the Almighty spoke the person’s name twice . We read:

But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”

Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel, Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.” —1 S AMUEL 3:10

Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
