Usually within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, we would know what his burden was about. In the mid 1980s, Dad was in deep prayer and saw a vision of an accident. He clearly saw a coal truck hitting a vehicle head-on, and he saw that the person sitting on the passenger side had been decapitated. He sensed it was a warning for his brother Morgan, who lived in West Virginia. Dad went to the phone and attempted to call Morgan several times but to no avail. He told Mom, “I am going to the church to pray, and don’t let anyone bother me under any circumstance.” Dad described to me that he interceded under such a heavy prayer burden that his stomach muscles began to hurt. He was pleading with God to spare his brother’s life. After one hour, he heard the Holy Spirit tell him, “Son, you are asking Me to spare the life of one who has known Me but willfully has chosen to turn from Me. He is not walking in covenant with Me.” This caused Dad to pray even more intently for another thirty minutes, asking God to extend his mercy to Morgan. It was then that Dad heard the Holy Spirit speak to him again, saying, “When you pastored in Northern Virginia, I showed you an angel that would be with you when you needed him. If you will ask the Father to send your angel to protect your brother, He will do so.” Dad began to ask the Lord to send a protective angel to wherever Morgan was at that time. It was later that evening when Dad got Morgan on the phone and told him that he had prayed for him to be spared from death. Morgan related this story to Dad: That morning he and a friend had gone to town and were returning home in his truck. Morgan felt a strange urge to stop at a small restaurant and get a soda. Morgan’s neighbors, who lived across the street, were following them in a car and passed them as Morgan’s truck turned into the restaurant parking lot. A few minutes later, both men were on the road
