In the Book of Judges, a woman named Delilah was paid to gain secret information from a man named Samson. Knowing that a seductive woman could make a fellow do things that they would normally never do, Delilah continually pressed Samson with her words: “Tell me your secret…tell me where your strength comes from…tell me or you don’t love me…you really don’t love me if you don’t give me what I want.” (See Judges 16.) Samson had killed a lion and destroyed a thousand Philistines, but he couldn’t handle the continual verbal wearing down he received from his forbidden Philistine girlfriend who owned the local beauty
