To “hold fast” means to seize onto something, but also to hold an area down as if to prevent someone else from taking it from you. Today we would say to stand your ground without moving , or, as Paul would put it, “Having done all, to stand. Stand therefore” (Eph. 6:13). While Satan may place thoughts and darts in your mind, if your mind if already filled with good or godly thoughts, he has no power or substance in his attempt to read your mind that will allow him to determine your direction.
