I W OULD E XPLOIT THE W EAKNESSES OF C HRISTIANS There are some believers who have a real struggle on the weekends. Friday and Saturday were normal, weekly party nights back in B.C.— before they found Christ ! When the weekend arrives, they must keep themselves busy, or else when their minds are idle, the enemy will send thoughts to tempt them to return to their old lifestyles. We must remember that the game has never changed, but the plays in the book have. As a believer matures in the Lord, immaturity is replaced with maturity, carnality is replaced with spirituality, and the desires for a lifestyle of sin are replaced with desires to encounter God’s presence. As an infant believer, perhaps there were fleshly struggles that the adversary kept before you as bait to hook you back into a former lifestyle. As you overcame that sin, the bait changed. When trying to catch fish and nothing is biting, fishermen will change the lure or the bait, including the shape, the spinning motion, and the color, to catch the eye and curiosity of the fish. The same is true with the strategy of the enemy. The traps and snares that once tripped you up are exposed and useless in your walk as you mature and learn to avoid them. But watch out for the new trap and the new snare that you may not recognize!
