T HREE P ARTS TO S ATAN’S S TRATEGY The New Testament writers reveal a three-pronged strategy of the enemy designed against every person. The first step is to keep spiritual blinders on the eyes of the person. Paul referred to the god of this world who had blinded people to see the gospel (2 Cor. 4:4). Paul was not referring to physical scales that cover the eyes from light, but to a spiritual blindness that prevents a person from receiving understanding. The second phase that is often linked with the first is to keep a person in spiritual ignorance (2 Cor. 2:11), especially concerning the subtle devices and deceptions of the enemy. We must do more than say to a sinner, “What you are doing is wrong,” or “If you keep doing that you will die lost!” We must give them solid, sound biblical proof as to why we are warning them.
