Years ago I battled with a terrible mental attack for several months, but never told my wife as I felt I could handle this alone and it was a season that would pass. Finally I exposed the assault and later received complete freedom. Months later when I told her my battle, she cried and said, “Why didn’t you tell me? I knew something was wrong but didn’t know what. You should have to me so I could pray for you.” Since that time when I am under what I believe to be an attack from the enemy, I ask her to lay hands upon me and pray. It does work. When you discern a spirit is involved, then rebuke the spirit and command it to loosen its hold and be removed! There is also additional authority released when at least two are in agreement (Matt. 18:19). 6. Shut out and remove the source. You may need your companion to serve as a watchperson over your actions, assisting in guarding you or removing any cable networks or perhaps placing a filter on the Internet. Just as in the case of alcohol and drugs, someone addicted to porn must have a long period of time in which he or she cannot see these images in order to provide time for healing to occur. Then to remain healed that person must maintain discipline. 7. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit brings righteousness, peace, and joy to a believer (Rom. 14:17).
