covenant with God and following the Word of God, no curse of the Law or curse outside of the Law can stick to an active believer. C URSES BY W ITCHES AND O CCULT G ROUPS The question has been asked, “Is it possible for a verbal or ritualistic curse from a witch, Satanist, or occult group to actually affect a true believer?” My first response is to recall when the king of Moab asked the seer Balaam to stand on the mountains of Moab, look into the valley, and curse the children of Israel (Num. 22:6). As Balaam attempted to speak, only blessings poured from his words. In anger the king rebuked the prophet, moved him to another peak on the mountain, and demanded him to curse the Hebrews, yet each time, only blessings came forth (Num. 23). Finally Balaam confessed that he was unable to curse those whom the Lord had blessed— and Israel was under the blessing of God (Num. 23:8). God’s covenant with Israel was stronger than the curse of a king. The same is true with individuals who have received Christ’s redemptive covenant. Christ’s blood forms an invisible yet active hedge of protection against spirits sent from the occult. In the early 1980s I preached a four-week revival in Northport, Alabama, which was known throughout the entire community.
