God’s favor, blessings, and increase. However, on the left hand there is darkness, trial, and anguish. In Job 23 this suffering saint confessed he was searching for God by moving forward and looking backward, but he could not find Him. Job then admitted that he was living on God’s left hand—where He works. Job acknowledged that despite the terrible affliction and anguish to his flesh, his soul, and his emotions, God had a left hand or a left side that He was still working through. God is with us, even in the most severe crisis, dark trial, and suffering. The facts are that we live on a planet experiencing the travail of famines, earthquakes, storms, floods, and natural disasters that can impact the food supply, drinking water, our homes, and businesses. A natural disaster does not necessarily indicate some form of judgment on an area, as weather phenomena have been occurring for centuries and often run in cycles. Christ said it this way: “He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matt. 5:45). I have said, “In life bad things happen to good people, and good things can happen to bad people.” What the generational curse doctrine seems to miss is that God is always working in the life of any believer who has a covenant with Him and is truly serving the Lord with all of his or her heart. The steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord (Ps. 37:23).
