remorse and shame for his failure and questioned how God would ever use him again. One night he had a marvelous dream. He was standing in heaven where an angel had a book of his life, recording the detailed acts and events from the moment he received Christ until the moment of this dream. As the angel opened the book, there was a record written of each specific good event or act and the date on which it occurred. The angel would point to the page, read a good deed, and say, “This you did for the Lord.” This was repeated numerous times. The fellow was becoming distressed, as he saw the time line in the book moving toward the day when he sinned and totally failed the Lord. He was fearful of what the angel would reveal and say. When the angel turned the page where the date would have recorded his sin, it was blank. As the pages were turned, each page held no written record of the sin. When he asked, “Sir, why are these pages blank?”, the angel replied, “This is what the Lord did for you!” Then the actual date in which he repented and was restored was recorded in the book, and the angel continued to read, “This you have done for the Lord.”

Perhaps this is the literal meaning of Isaiah 43:25: “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
