I know of several occasions when the church family would join in prayer for a fellow member and believer to be raised up from a bed of sickness, yet that person passed. In some instances it was learned late that in private the believer had told close friends that he or she was tired of the battle and desired to go home to be with the Lord. My own father lived a healthy strong life until he entered his seventies, when he battled diabetes. Despite the fact he had prayed for thousands of people who received a definite healing touch, he himself suffered in the latter years of his life, requiring dialysis three times a week. His doctor was going to place a feeding tube in his body to assist in receiving nourishment for his body. He told the doctor and Mom, “Don’t let them put that tube in me to keep me alive. I’m weary, my body is worn out, and I am ready and excited about going home to be with the Lord!” At that point we all knew Dad had willed his destiny from earth to heaven. All of the prayers and intercession that could fill up a sanctuary are void once the will of a person being prayed for changes from keep me on earth to I’m ready for heaven . Never view the departure of a believer to heaven as some defeat. I have always said, “You cannot threaten a believer with the idea of going to heaven!” Years ago a woman who was married to an alcoholic was continually harassed for her Christian faith.
