When growing up, I heard ministers proclaim that we were “saved” and “on your way to heaven.” There was much teaching about the wrongs of sin and the glories of heaven, but not enough teaching on why we struggle on earth. I have discovered that some spirits may not be direct demonic spirits but are soulish —meaning an emotional tie to a person. These soulish ties, often called soul ties , tie a person emotionally to another until the struggler becomes codependent upon another person. This is fine if that other confidant is your companion who is standing with you spiritually through your struggle. However, far too many times to even comprehend, what has happened is that a man becomes codependent upon another woman or a women upon a man who is not his or her companion. That inner voice tells you that this other person “really understands you,” “is more compassionate for you,” and “really cares about you.” Thus begins the private battle in your mind, and you desire to see or speak with this person every day. It may begin as a soulish relationship, but if it persists, then a spirit can enter the crack in the door, and it becomes an obsession leading to control. No Christian man or woman ever intended to enter a friendship that led to an emotional relationship and an eventual physical affair. When revealing your secret struggles, you must speak to the right persons — not the wrong ones.
