You must clean your ears out , removing hindrances and preconceived ideas that block God’s Word from making the eighteen-inch drop from your head to your heart. Then, keep (or preserve) what you hear by guarding your heart with all diligence (Prov. 4:23). Christ taught that the adversary attempts to steal from you the Word of God that you hear before the seed can take root and bring forth results (Mark 4:15–17). The third step is to always remember the rules and never forget that the lack of wisdom prevents you from following wisdom. The Hebrews were warned that after settling in the Promised Land, they should never forget that it was God and His covenant that gave them the power to get wealth (Deut. 8:17–18). Eight times Moses warned the people not to forget their covenant (Deut 4:9, 23, 31; 6:12; 8:11, 14, 19; 25:19). Solomon knew that knowledge begins by hearing, understanding begins by doing, and wisdom manifests through diligence.
