Breaking The Jewish Code Perry Stone
Chapter 6: Names Are Prophetic and Can Reveal a Child’s Destiny Code 6: There is significance in the names you give your children.
And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” —Genesis 32:28
Since Abraham’s time, when a Hebrew child was born, the most significant element of the event was the meaning of the name given to the infant by the father or both parents. Circumcision demonstrated inclusion in the Jewish covenant, but the child’s birth name often identified his or her prophetic destiny or God’s purpose for that child’s life. Names could be linked to a particular event in the parent’s life or an unusual circumstance in the child’s birth. The meaning of the name was very significant to ancient Hebrews, and it still is to Jewish families today.
