They are: 1. Visual —knowledge received through visual illustrations 2. Repetitive —knowledge received through repeating information 3. Chanting —knowledge received through the repetitive musical tones 4. Musical —knowledge received through singing songs Visual teaching Judaism is a religion that uses visual religious objects to illustrate the Jews’ faith. The doorposts of a religious Jewish home are marked by a mezuzah. (See chapter 8.) Thus, a Jew cannot enter or exit his home without being reminded of his commitment to obey God’s Word and raise his family in the knowledge of the Torah. Jewish men pray at the Western Wall in Israel and in synagogues throughout the world, wearing a specially designed prayer shawl called a tallit . The tallit has a remarkable history, rich in symbolism. The blue color, the fringes (called tzitziot ), and the number of knots on the four corners all hold spiritual significance.
