Becoming A Vessel Of Honor Rebecca Brown
149 How do we break a hole in this protective hedge? By SIN. I call such sins that permit the entrance of demons temple defiling sins. Why? Because the bottom line in this issue of demons in Christians is this: "Can the temple of God, us, be defiled, and if so, how does scripture define the term defile ment?”To answer this we must first turn to the Old Testa ment. In the Old Testament, God gave his people, the children of Israel, many "pictures" in their lives so that they would un derstand the coming of Christ and work He would ac complish. For instance, through the sin offerings, they were brought to understand the necessity of the shedding of in nocent blood and the giving of life to pay the price for their sins. The sin offerings gave a poignant picture of what Jesus accomplished once and for all on the cross. In the same way, the temple of God, as built by King Solomon, was a picture of those of us who have come under the new covenant with Christ. We are the temple of God with the Holy Spirit dwell ing in us just as the presence of God dwelt in Solomon’s temple. (Figure 9-3)
