You see, this scripture told me that even though those two were telling all sorts of lies about me that I was not to defend myself, but forgive them and commit the whole matter into the Lord’s hands. Well, I asked them to move out, but the Lord completely blocked them from doing so for three very long months. Do you have any idea just how many times the Holy Spirit had to flash those verses into my mind during those three months? BUT, having those verses flashed into my mind kept me from sinning in the situation. Praise God! The Holy Spirit will be a great help to you if you will only obey Him. There is a very important principle I want to give you. The root of all sin is SELF-CENTEREDNESS. Oh how we love to think about ourselves! The root of ALL mental illness is the sin of self-centeredness. The mark of someone who is "mentally ill" or has a lot of problems in their life is that they refuse to think about anything or anyone but themselves. Notice that I said "they refuse" rather than "they are in capable of." Mentally ill people choose to be mentally ill, for the most part. Oh, they use the excuse of past rejections and hurts. But stop to think for a minute. Has anyone suf fered more rejection and hurt than Jesus? NO! What a ter rible fix we would be in if Jesus chose to spend His time in self pity, dwelling on and reacting to the hurt and rejection He suffered! Most people, whether they are classified as mentally ill or not, spend the bulk of their time thinking about themselves. This is especially true of people with what is called an "in
