50 Truths Concerning Apostolic Ministry

10. Apostles are Sent Ones

And how can they preach, except they be sent?...

Romans 10:15 chose this verse because all ministers are sent by God including prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. However, the word apostle by definition means a SENT ONE. They have the authority and power of the SENDER. I Apostles are sent forth by the Holy Ghost (Acts 13:4). Jesus called His twelve disciples and gave them power (Matthew 10:1). After He sent the twelve, they were called "apostles" (Matthew 10:2). They were sent to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out devils (Matthew 10:8). As sent ones, they have the ability to judge correctly (John 8:16). They preach doctrine that comes from heaven and from themselves (John 7:15-17). Their works (planting churches, laying foundation, pioneering, etc.) bear witness that they are sent from the Father (John 5:36). They are sent into certain cities, regions and nations. They are sent to preach and minister in a particular area of revelation.
